Techno-Optimists tout artificial intelligence (AI) as society’s panacea, whilst its loudest critics view it as a pathology that threatens to destabilase the fabric of society itself. Following on from ChatGPT 3.5’s explosive debut a year ago the insurance industry is continuing to explore the risks and opportunities generative AI has to offer.

This IUA Developing Technology Monitoring Group webinar will bring together experts from the legal, underwriting, claims and technology disciplines. We will define AI, consider its many and varied applications as well as practical tips for implementation.

Experts will explore four key concepts:

1. The Opportunities of AI to support an effective underwriting process.
2. How AI could improve claims handling functions whilst maintaining a ‘human in the loop’.
3. AI risk-observability, black-box and governance to mitigate risks at-hand.
4. Overview of liability and regulation in the UK and EU.
5. Practical implementation – key steps to unlock benefits whilst managing potential risks.

With guest speakers, including:

George Beattie, Head of Innovation, CFC Underwriting
Niamh Mcconville, Head of Claims Operations, Generali
Mahesh Hariharan, Founder, CEO, Zupervise
Daniel West, Partner, Weightmans LLP
Jonathan Davis, Data Science Lead, CDO Function, UK Operations, Zurich
